Omni Systems, the development team behind the successful indie game Eufloria have announced that the iPad version of the game will be available for purchase this February.

The new iPad version, named Eufloria HD, will feature new music tracks and a new control scheme to make best use of the touch screen interface offered by Apple’s tablet device.

Eufloria has been described as a simple, charming game, which mixes calming music with elements of real time strategy gameplay for a thoroughly engaging experience. It is currently undergoing final polish and preparation prior to release, however, the company is confident the game will see release imminently.

Eurfloria HD will be fully functional at launch, with no hidden in-app purchases necessary to access the entire game. Additional, entirely new content, will be made available for purchase once the completed product has shipped.

Rudolf Kremers, part of the development team behind Eufloria, said:

“Developing Eufloria HD has been quite a different experience for us, compared to the PC and PSN iterations. For one, the whole concept of a touch interface takes getting used to and comes with its own design conundrums and requirements, and these are not nearly as clear cut as they may seem initially.”

Eufloria has been available for Windows since 2009, and recently became available to Playstation users via the PSN store in October 2011. The game was won the award for ‘Best Auralgasms’ at the Indievisibility Awards last year.

“We were greatly helped by the people at Tunatech in this regard,” said Mr Kremers. “They are fantastic to work with, and between us we came up with a very intuitive and pure touch interface, that makes the game a joy to play. It affects everything though… User interface, help system, ingame interactivity…

“When you see a flower in Eufloria HD, you expect to be able to “pluck” it, with a swipe, which you can now do, but we had to iterate a lot to find and cover these kinds of device specific expectations.”
