Information has emerged revealing that recently announced Resident Evil 6 will feature a variety of online multiplayer options, including a six player co-op mode. The Resident Evil 6 page on the Xbox Marketplace website lists the offline and online options which will be available to players when the game is released on 20 November 2012.

Amongst the options listed include two player offline cooperative, two-to-eight player online multiplayer, and most surprisingly two-to-six player online co-op play. From what we have seen from the trailer, it is easy to understand how six player co-op play will work during the Chris Redfield portion of the game, which sees the character in a Chinese city accompanied by a B.S.A.A team.

However, how six player co-op would work with the other two protagonists remains to be seen, assuming the co-operative sections are not completely separate from the main storyline.

Capcom have also revealed via their Twitter feed, in response to questions from fans, that the control scheme for the new instalment of the series has been completely overhauled. Resident Evil 5 drew ire from the community for its out of date control scheme which did not permit moving and shooting at the same time, given games such as Gears of War revolutionising the third person shooter in the time between RE4 and RE5.
