New jungle biome coming to Minecraft
Lead designer on Minecraft has tweeted an image showing a dense jungle environment within the game, leading many to quite reasonably assume a new biome will soon be introduced into the block-based game. Jens Bergensten, who took over as lead designer on Minecraft from Notch, tweeted images and details on the new environment which is expected to be brought in to the game soon.
The first tweet revealed an image of a wooded environment far denser than the current wood biomes included in the game. The game currently features a diverse selection of biomes, ranging form deserts to woods, not to mention the special environments which the player can explore such as The Nether.
His second tweet did not include a screenshot, but revealed the intention to introduce new animals to inhabit the jungle environment.
News of the new biome consitutes one of the largest developments for the game since it saw official release back in November during MineCon 2011, and should act to reassure devotees that while the game may officially be ‘out’, it is still far from finished.
Mojang, who participated in the protest against US Acts SOPA and PIPA revealed via his Twitter account that the lost day of business probably cost the company around $200,000, although joked that the following day was more busy than usual.
